How far does ultraviolet light penetrate into the body? What depth ultraviolet light penetrate into the body?

In human skin, UV penetration depth is actually very slight -- less than 1 millimeter. Ultraviolet radiation usually doesn't make it past the epidermis, the top layer of skin.

This is why UV-initiated skin cancers are generally in the epidermal layer.
